In this third episode of our winter series BURN THE SHIPS,
Darwin Shaw describes how he set fire to a medical career, with the
near-guarantees it offered, to pursue acting and the creative joys
it offered. Maybe you know him as Daniel Craig’s first kill enroute
to double O status in CASINO ROYALE; maybe as the Apostle Peter in
the megahit miniseries THE BIBLE. Maybe from his role as a key
creator of The Anti-Viral Film Project, an international effort to
provide creative work for actors and filmmakers during the pandemic
to tell a multi-generational story about families around the globe,
who strive for connection and catharsis, against the turmoil of the
COVID-19.
“If you can hone in on what’s truthful to you and follow
that,” he tells Warwick of his pivot from behind a stethoscope to
in front of a camera, “I don’t think you’re ever going to regret
it.”
